100 Most Influential Women: Victoria Burton-Harris

Victoria Burton-Harris up in a close-knit Flint community that believed in the saying “It takes a village.” When her mother wanted to send her to Junior State of America at Yale University, the church helped raise the funds to make it so.

As she studied political science and African American studies at the University of Michigan, Burton-Harris learned quickly about the “nexus that exists between Black folks in America and the political system.”
