Jason Williams

Candidate for District Attorney, New Orleans, LA

Before Jason Williams was sworn into office in 2021, The District Attorney’s Office in New Orleans was guided by a win-at-all-cost culture that prioritizes high conviction rates, artificially set high screening acceptance rates and harsh sentencing over more effective approaches that are proven to reduce crime. As the new District Attorney for New Orleans Parish, Williams changed that.

In his first week in office, Attorney Williams fired 10 prosecutors from the previous administration, and shifted the office’s focus to equal justice. He has worked to end harsh sentences on people convicted as children, including life without parole, and has granted new trials to over 20 people convicted in split trials, which upheld inequalities of the Jim Crow era.

Real Justice PAC is proud to have supported Jason Williams in his campaign to become the District Attorney for New Orleans and transform the criminal legal system in the parish. His office is making crucial strides towards equality that will save lives and reverberate nationwide.
