Few DA’s offices in this country have caused more harm, and done more damage, to more people, than the Manhattan DA’s Office. New York is facing a mass incarceration endemic. 443 out of 100,000 people have been put behind bars, disproportionately affecting people of color.

Tahanie has experienced first hand the destruction that pro-incarceration and anti-immigrant elected officials have caused in communities in Manhattan. When she was just a child, her father was sentenced to 22 years in prison for non-violent crimes. ⁣ So she understands all too clearly the ways our current system’s lack of support undermines the safety of all New Yorkers.
