Real Justice PAC is proud to endorse Hobie Crystle to be the next District Attorney (DA) of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Hobie has fought for working people in broken criminal justice system for 27 years. Now he’s building a grassroots movement for fairness and justice in Lancaster County.
Hobie grew up in Lancaster Township. He went to Wesleyan University, where he helped lead the anti-apartheid divestment movement, and Wesleyan became one of the first universities to divest from companies doing business in South Africa. He became a public defender to work toward the idea of equal justice under the law. Now, Hobie is running for DA to end cash bail, treat addiction as a public health problem, and prioritize rehabilitation and restorative justice over incarceration.
Lancaster’s justice system has been stuck in a broken status quo for decades. Conservative leadership has fueled the mass incarceration machine, locking up too many people who are struggling to get by. Lancaster has an incredible opportunity to elect a progressive district attorney this year, ending decades of suffering under a failed approach.
If elected as DA, we could count on Hobie to work toward a justice system that heals the community instead of tearing people apart. He will take on the broken status quo with proven, common-sense solutions– without putting more people in jail. He knows that everyone deserves justice, no matter where we live or how much we make.
As an experienced public defender and champion for civil rights and working families, Hobie would bring the change that Lancaster needs.
